Even in a world with no electricity, people are still trying to print Harry Potter.

“It’s been long time coming, but we’ve made it this far. Others might not understand, but that’s alright cause we know there’s more to it. This ain’t like anything else we’ve ever experienced, and frankly, I find that amazing. Now some could say that it’s a fad, that it’s a trend, that someday, it’ll all fade away. But I don’t believe that. In such a short period we’ve made bonds that will last lifetimes. And I’ll be damned if I allow myself to let go without a fight. This phenomenon is blind to age, gender, race, and location. So even though we’ve reached the end, it’s not over yet. We’ll still have each other. All the friendships, and all the laughs. And when it seems dark, we’ll all be there with out stretched hands. Life’s a funny thing. It can present you with surprises around every corner. No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but we can hope that it brings us all a little bit closer.”

It’s been 10 years since the release of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film and 15 years since the release of the book. As Christian Caldeira says in his song, “The Last Call,” I don’t think anyone could have ever imagined this series to become such a phenomenon.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I could have ever thought that I would make so many friends because of Harry Potter. Some of my longest friendships have started because of it. And even today, 10 years later for me, I still continue to make friends from all over the world that I have never even met due to our common love for Harry and his world. I like to say that because of J.K. Rowling, I am able to have such a great imagination. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the first book that I have ever read that didn’t have illustrations included (no the ones at the beginning of every chapter don’t count lol). I have no idea what my imagination would be like if Harry Potter hadn’t been my first book. Sure, I’d still have all these dreams and stuff, but Harry Potter has truly allowed me to dream past the ordinary.

Not only has it allowed me to dream, but it has taught me so many lessons about life. Sure, you could learn these things through friends and family, but there’s just something different about seeing the difficulties that Harry faces in his life that makes all of my problems seem so insignificant. I’ve been through quite some things in my lifetime, and Harry and his world have always been there to welcome me in, and once I start reading the words on those pages, I start to drift into a far away land, and everything seems better. I know it sounds corny, but it’s the truth.

One of the most magical things about Harry Potter is that we all come from different backgrounds and cultures, and even though we have all gone through different experiences in life, I think the fact that we all have this one thing in common is phenomenal. You know, some people really think that this fandom will one day die out because of all the other things in media that are taking over. But after one year, we’re still going strong. Every day, I still see graphics, gifs, fanfiction, art, and other things inspired by Harry Potter. And we do none of it for money. We do it because we love it. We do it because we want to pay tribute to the one thing that has been such a big part of our lives. Because we want to pay tribute to the little boy in the cupboard, the boy who lived.

To those who submitted pictures, I want to express all my gratitude and appreciate that you took the time and effort to do so. It means a lot to me, and I could not have accomplished any of this without your help. The purpose of this graphic was to show all of the different people from all around the world and how we can all bond together to show our love for Harry Potter. I promise you that if you submitted a picture, you are absolutely in it. Thanks again :)

This is for the boy who lived. This is for the Harry Potter generation. Together, we really are strong, and I know we will never let this fandom fade away.

After all this time?
Always.
